ATTLEBORO, Mass.—The Mariners of Mitchell College grabbed the first-ever New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) men’s tennis championship title for the 2009 season. The Mariners (11-0 overall) claimed the top spot after posting a perfect 8-0 NECC record in conference play.

ATTLEBORO, Mass. - The New England Collegiate Conference handed out its first weekly awards and Lesley University men's tennis freshman David Newton earned Rookie of the Week honors. Newton was solid this weekend in both his singles and doubles matches against Mitchell College and Becker College.

The Lesley University men’s tennis team begins its 2009 campaign in the New England Collegiate Conference tomorrow against Mitchell College with the hopes of building off of last year’s inaugural season. The Lynx are returning four players from last year’s team and are introducing several new players that will make a significant impact from day one.
