CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - The Lesley University men's tennis team continued their success in the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) by beating Newbury College 8-1. The Lynx improved to 5-3 (4-1 NECC) while Newbury College dropped to 1-9 (1-5 NECC).
The Lynx swept all three doubles matches from Newbury with #1 doubles players David Newton (Hamden, Conn.) and Sonny Ljutica (Rexford, N.Y.) leading the way with an 8-4 win over Matthew O'Donnell (Vernon, Conn.) and Ryan Sevieri (Canton, Mass.).
Also winning in doubles were Fran Cusick (Lexington, Mass.) and Dory LeCount (Waltham, Mass.) by the score of 8-3 and Peter Parrales (Otterberg, Germany) and Tyler Reeves (Coventry, Conn.) by the score of 8-4.
In singles play, Lesley won in straight sets in all but one match. Newbury scored their lone point in the #6 singles match as Matt Talamantes (Sylmar, Calif.) defeated Reeves in three sets 2-6, 6-2, 6-3.
Lesley travels to UMass-Boston on April 23 for a 3:00 pm match and Newbury visits NECC opponent Becker College on April 22 for a 4:00 pm match.
