Lynx win third straight NECC tennis match

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Fran Cusick (Lexington, Mass.) continued his stellar play on the courts for the Lesley University men's tennis team and the Lynx cruised to their third straight New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) victory on Saturday morning against Newbury College.

Lesley rebounded nicely after losing to Rhode Island College earlier this week to beat the Nighthawks 8-1.  The Lynx won all of their doubles matches as their only defeat came in the #1 singles match.

Cusick, last week's NECC Player of the Week, won his #3 singles match after dropping the first set to win 6-7, 6-3, 6-2.  The senior, along with doubles partner Dory LeCount (Waltham, Mass.) took their #2 doubles match in impressive fashion 8-1.

Sonny Ljutica (Shenendehowa, N.Y.) held his own at the top part of the Lesley lineup, winning the #2 singles match 6-4, 2-6, and 6-3 and held on for a 8-5 #1 doubles victory with David Newton (Hamden, Conn.).

Peter Parrales (Otterberg, Germany), LeCount, and Tyler Reeves (Coventry, Conn.) each took their singles match and Parrales and Reeves combined to win their #3 doubles match.

Lesley will travel to Albertus Magnus College on April 14 for a match starting at 3:30 pm.
