CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - With the 2008 collegiate softball season in the books, the NCAA has recognized the teams and individuals who were among the statistical leaders this past year and Lani Cabral-Pini (Wilmington, Mass.) is at the top of two categories.
The 2008 Lesley University softball season concluded ten days ago with the Lynx falling to Rivier College in a tight 1-0 loss at the NCAA DIII Regionals, but this team will certainly be remembered for a season full of accomplishments and achievements that cannot be matched by any other program in Lesley history.
PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Lesley University softball team was eliminated from the NCAA Regional Tournament at Rhode Island College after losing to Rivier College 1-0.
PROVIDENCE, R.I. – In their first ever trip to the NCAA DIII Softball Regionals, the Lesley University softball team came within six outs of a victory against Wellesley College. The Lynx lost to the Blue 3-2 and will look to get back on track on Friday against Rivier College.
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – One day before the first team in Lesley University history plays in a DIII NCAA Tournament game, the Lynx softball players continue to get recognized for their efforts this past season.
BANGOR, Me. – By defeating UMaine-Farmington 6-1 on Sunday, the Lesley University softball captured the North Atlantic Conference Championship marking the first time any Lynx athletic program has ever been named conference champion in nine years at the NAC.
BANGOR, Me. – Having already suffered one loss in the double-elimination North Atlantic Conference Championships, the Lesley University softball team rose to the occasion and win both of their games to reach the championship game on Sunday. The Lynx will face UMaine-Farmington on Sunday May 4 at 12 p.m. to determine who will be named the best team in the conference.
BANGOR, Me. – On day one of the North Atlantic Conference softball championships, Lesley University defeated Thomas College but fell to UMaine-Farmington to advance to the second day of play. The Lynx will next play Husson College on Saturday at noon to determine the right to play UMaine-Farmington for the conference championship.
WHITINGHAM, Vt. – The North Atlantic Conference released their softball All-Conference Teams selections and several Lesley University players were recognized for their efforts this season.
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – In a North Atlantic Conference Quarterfinal match up between Lesley University and Bay Path College, the Lynx overcame early struggles to defeat the Wildcats 12-4 in six innings. The victory helped Lesley advance to the NAC Championships to be played starting this Friday, May 2.
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – For her efforts in the final week of the regular season, freshman Alyson Durben has won the North Atlantic Conference Rookie of the Week award for the third time this season.
FARMINGTON, Me. – Following a split with UMaine-Farmington on Sunday, the Lesley University softball team finished the regular season in a three-way tie for first place in the North Atlantic Conference. It was the first time in the program’s history that the Lynx have ever had a taste of the NAC regular season title as they finished with a 25-9 (17-3 NAC) record.
WATERVILLE, Me. – The Lesley University softball team swept Thomas College in a doubleheader on Saturday and took over first place in the North Atlantic Conference with a record of 24-8 (16-2 NAC). With the two losses, the Terriers dropped to 18-11 (15-3 NAC) and fell to third place in the conference.
LEICESTER, Mass. – The softball team won their tenth straight game after sweeping Becker College 9-1, 9-0 on Wednesday afternoon. The Lynx improved to 22-8 (14-2 North Atlantic Conference) and are now in second place in the conference. Becker dropped to 6-18 (2-14 NAC).
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Alyson Durben led the highest scoring offense in the North Atlantic Conference this past week to a 8-0 record including six wins against NAC opponents and for her efforts she earned Rookie of the Week honors from the conference.
VERMONT – The Lesley University softball continued their success against the North Atlantic Conference as the Lynx swept both Johnson State College and Castleton State College over the week. The victories improved Lesley’s record to 20-8 (12-2 NAC) as the team is in sole possession of third place in the conference.
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – A day after sweeping Elms College in a crucial North Atlantic Conference match up, the Lesley University softball team took two games from UMass-Boston to improve their 2008 season record to 16-8 (8-2 NAC). With the losses, the Beacons fell to 3-22 (0-6 Little East Conference).
CHICOPEE, Mass. – In a match up of the fourth and fifth ranked softball teams in the North Atlantic Conference, Lesley University swept Elms College by the scores 6-0 and 7-2. With the wins the Lynx improved to 14-8 (8-2 NAC) while the Blazers dropped to 15-9 (4-4 NAC).
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – In a match up of two undefeated teams in North Atlantic Conference play, the Husson College Eagles swept the Lesley University Lynx in double-header action. With the losses, Lesley drops to 12-8 (6-2 NAC) while Husson improves to 15-7 (12-0 NAC).
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – In a North Atlantic Conference double-header match up with Maine Maritime Academy, the Lesley University softball team swept the Mariners in both games to move to 6-0 in the conference. Lesley won the games 8-0 and 9-4. With the victories Lesley improved to 12-6 (6-0 NAC) while Maine Maritime Academy dropped their record to 6-6 (4-6 NAC).
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Lesley University softball team defeated Newbury College 4-1 and 9-1 in their non-conference double-header match up to improve their record to 10-6 (4-0 North Atlantic Conference). With the losses, Newbury drops to 4-12 on the season.
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The North Atlantic Conference released their weekly softball honors and Lesley University pitcher Alicia Burnett (Gulf Breeze, Fla.) won Co-Player of the Week.
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The Lesley University softball team continued their early season dominance of North Atlantic Conference opponents by sweeping Wheelock College on Sunday. Both slaughter-rule victories improved Lesley’s record to 8-6 (4-0 NAC) while Wheelock dropped to 2-8 (1-7 NAC).
LONGMEADOW, Mass. – Due to poor field conditions at Buckingham Field in Cambridge, the Lesley University softball was forced to travel to Bay Path College for their double-header. Despite the set back, the team was able to sweep the Wildcats with 5-0 and 13-0 victories for their first two North Atlantic Conference wins of the season.
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – At Buckingham Field in Cambridge, the Lesley University softball team hosted their first two home games of the 2008 season in a double-header against Massachusetts Maritime Academy. The Lynx won both games against the Buccaneers, winning 14-0 and 11-2.
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – After playing in eight spring training games down in Fort Myers, freshman outfielder Alyson Durben (Stow, Mass.) won her first Rookie of the Week award from the North Atlantic Conference.
FORT MYERS, Fla. – The Lesley University softball team finished off their spring training trip by splitting the day’s games between Skidmore College and Finlandia Univesrity. In the first game of the day against Skidmore, the Lynx were victorious 12-2 while in the second game, Finlandia edged Lesley 3-2 in a tough pitchers duel.
FORT MYERS, Fla. – The Lesley University softball team got their first victory of the season as they defeated Drew University 3-0 on Wednesday. In the second game of the day, Lesley fell to an impressive Wheaton College (MA) team 14-4. With today’s contests, the Lynx currently stands at 1-5 to start the 2008 season.
FORT MYERS, Fla. – The softball team was back in action against non-conference opponents down in Fort Myers on Monday, but lost both games they played to Olivet College and North Park University.
FORT MYERS, Fla. – The Lesley University softball team kicked off their 2008 season in Fort Myers, FL with a double-header against Renssselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) and Pine Manor College. The Lynx were able to jump to early 2-0 leads, but ultimately lost both games to fall to 0-2 in the early season.
