ATTLEBORO, Mass. - Fran Cusick (Lexington, Mass.) and David Newton (Hamden, Conn.) topped all New England Collegiate Conference men's tennis players this week to earn both Player and Rookie of the Week honors.
The Lesley University mens basketball team finished with a 5-20 record overall and failed to make the conference playoffs for the first time in the four year existence of the program. The Lynx, however, are optimistic that this season was just a bump in a road towards their aspirations for a New England Collegiate Conference championship.

All eight of the sponsored programs were represented on 2009 New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Mens Basketball All-Conference Team, it was announced today by Commissioner Del Malloy. In addition to the All-NECC honors, three separate major individual award winners and the team sportsmanship award were also voted upon and selected this week.
NASHUA, N.H. In their final contest of the 2008-2009 season, the Lesley University mens basketball team suffered a 90-59 loss to Daniel Webster College. The Lynx ended their season with a 5-20 record (2-12 NECC) while the Eagles will move into the conference playoffs with a 16-8 (10-4 NECC) mark.
CHICOPEE, Mass. The Lesley University mens basketball team fell to the #12 ranked Elms College Blazers on Thursday evening 90-59, dropping their 2008-2009 record to 5-19 (2-11 NECC). With the victory, the Blazers improved to 23-1 (13-0 NECC).
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. Nijel Robinson (Plainsboro, N.J.) scored 26 points and hit the game-winning buck with four seconds remaining in overtime to lead the Lesley University mens basketball team to victory over Mitchell College 69-67. With the win, the Lynx improved to 5-18 (2-10 NECC) while Mitchell dropped to 8-15 (4-8 NECC).
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. The Lesley University mens basketball hosted Daniel Webster College on Saturday evening and were unable to slow down the Eagles attack as the Lynx were defeated 84-58. Daniel Webster shot an impressive 60.7% from beyond the three-point line and improved to 13-8 (7-4 NECC) while Lesley dropped to 4-18 (1-10 NECC).
BROOKLINE, Mass. With less than a minute left in regulation, Newbury College freshman Corey Charubini (Hull, Mass.) hit a crucial three-point bucket to give the Nighthawks a 54-52 advantage over Lesley University with just 56 seconds remaining. The Nighthawks would go on to win the game 56-54.
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. The Lesley University mens basketball team faced off with the number two ranked team in the New England Collegiate Conference, the Becker College Hawks, and were defeated 75-60 to fall to 4-16 (1-8 NECC). Becker improved to 14-6 (7-2 NECC) with the victory.
BENNINGTON, Vt. Southern Vermont College defeated Lesley University 78-61 on Thursday evening to complete the two-game season sweep of the Lynx and improve their record to 6-13 (3-5 NECC). Lesley drops to 4-15 (1-7 NECC) with the loss.
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. The big men for the Lesley University mens basketball team led the Lynx towards their first victory since December 10, defeating Wheelock College 59-57 on Saturday evening. The Lynx improved to 4-14 (1-6 NECC) while the Wildcats dropped to 5-13 (3-4 NECC).

NEW LONDON, N.H. The Lesley University mens basketball traveled to Colby-Sawyer College for a non-conference game with the Chargers and suffered a 63-34 loss. The loss dropped the Lynx record to 3-13 (0-5 NECC) while the Chargers improved to 12-4.
NEW LONDON, Conn. The Lesley University mens basketball team suffered their fifth loss against New England Collegiate Conference opponents on Saturday afternoon, losing to Mitchell College 78-52. The Lynx got a solid performance from Jonathan Cruz (Haverhill, Mass.) who led his team with 22 points.
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. The Lesley University mens basketball team visited Wheelock College on Thursday evening and lost to the Wildcats 78-53. The Lynx fall to 3-11 (0-4 NECC) on the season while the Wildcats improved to 4-10 (2-2 NECC).

LEICESTER, Mass. The Lesley University mens basketball team fell behind early after a 19-2 run by Becker College to start the game, and ended up losing to the Hawks 77-38. The Lynx dropped to 3-8 (0-1 NECC) on the season while the Hawks improved to 7-4 (1-1 NECC).
LONGMEADOW, Mass. The New England Collegiate Conference has honored Jesus Trejo (Methuen, Mass.) with the Player of the Week award after a dominating performance against Curry College, a game in which the Lynx erased a 20-point deficit to force overtime and eventually triumph 78-75. For Trejo, it is the first time in the 2008-2009 season that he has won Player of the Week honors.

The basket officially erased a 20-point deficit and sent the game into overtime where Lesley would ride momentum to victory.
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. The Curry College mens basketball took a 20-point lead with 8:32 remaining in the game, but Lesley University went on a 31-11 run to force overtime against the Colonels. The Lynx continued their momentum into the extra period and defeated Curry 78-75 for their third win of the season. With the loss Curry dropped to 2-6.
NEWPORT, R.I. The Lesley University mens basketball team traveled down to Newport, Rhode Island to face off against Salve Regina University on Saturday afternoon and lost to the Seahawks 86-51. The Lynx dropped their season record to 2-7 while the Seahawks improved to 3-5.
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. The Massachusetts Institute of Technology continued their success against fellow Cambridge institution Lesley University in a 76-43 win. The victory marked the fourth straight year in which the Engineers have defeated the Lynx. MIT improved to 5-3 overall while Lesley dropped to 2-6.
MEDFORD, Mass. Tufts University got contributions from all 15 players on their roster en route to a 40 point victory over Lesley University on Tuesday evening. Thirteen of those players scored points as the Jumbos improved to 3-2, while the Lynx dropped to 2-5 on the season.

The Lesley University mens basketball team held a lead as large as 12 points in the second half against Eastern Nazarene College, but the Crusaders stormed back to defeat the Lynx 63-61. The loss drops Lesleys record to 2-4 while Eastern Nazarene evens their early season record to 2-2.
BRIDGEWATER, Mass. Four Lesley University mens basketball players were in double figures in a 79-71 victory over Curry College in the consolation game of the Bridgewater State College DAngelo Tip-Off Classic. Lesley improved to 2-3 on the season while Curry continues to be winless at 0-3.

Following the loss, Lesleys record dropped to 1-2 while Bridgewater State improved to 2-0 on the season.
WESTFIELD, Mass. The Lesley University mens basketball team traveled to Westfield State College for a non-conference game, but the behind senior Dave Jaehnig (Quincy, Mass.) and Brandon Mauer (Pittsfield, Mass.) the Owls defeated the Lynx 83-62. Westfield State improved to 3-0 while Lesley dropped to 1-2.
