NEW LONDON, N.H. - The Lesley University men's basketball traveled to Colby-Sawyer College for a non-conference game with the Chargers and suffered a 63-34 loss. The loss dropped the Lynx record to 3-13 (0-5 NECC) while the Chargers improved to 12-4.
Jesus Trejo (Methuen, Mass.) led the Lynx with nine points and eight rebounds, four of which were offensive. Malcolm Andrews (Medford, Mass.) scored seven points and was a presence on the boards, grabbing 12 rebounds.
Bryant Itonyo (Medford, Mass.) gave a solid effort off the bench as the freshman scored seven points on 3-of-7 from the floor.
Colby-Sawyer was paced by Duncan Szeliga (Newmarket, N.H.) who netted a game-high 12 points and tallied 11 rebounds to complete the double-double. David Rosso (Wilmington, Vt.) was the only other Charger player in double-figures as the junior guard scored 10 points.
Szeliga was also a presence defensively as he made four blocks in the game.
The Lynx had difficulty scoring as they shot 31.3% as a team in the game. Lesley also committed 25 turnovers which Colby-Sawyer was able to convert into 17 points.
The Chargers held advantages in points in the paint, outscoring the Lynx 28-18, and in bench points at 18-12.
Lesley will be back in action on Thursday, January 29 for an 8:30 pm game with Southern Vermont College while Colby-Sawyer travels to Eastern Nazarene College for a 7:00 pm game the same day.
