Lynx fall to Wildcats 78-53

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - The Lesley University men's basketball team visited Wheelock College on Thursday evening and lost to the Wildcats 78-53.  The Lynx fall to 3-11 (0-4 NECC) on the season while the Wildcats improved to 4-10 (2-2 NECC).

The big men for the Lynx, Jesus Trejo (Methuen, Mass.) and Malcolm Andrews (Medford, Mass.), both recorded double-doubles.  Trejo scored 18 points and grabbed 17 rebounds, eight of which were offensive and Andrews totaled 15 points and 11 rebounds.  Andrews hit 8-of-12 attempts from the free throw line on the game.  Trejo was an effective defender down low as the sophomore blocked four shots.

Wheelock was led by Dan Main (Hopedale, Mass.) who was electric from long range as the guard hit 6-of-11 attempts from beyond the arc for 18 total points.

Sherard Robbins (Malden, Mass.) and Victor Kashouh (Providence, R.I.) complemented Main's effort with 14 and 10 points, a piece.  Freshman guard Kyle Pierce (Burlington, Mass.) dished out six assists in the game.

The Wildcats jumped out to a large lead early in the game as the home team went on a 23-4 run in the first 11:04 of the first half.  Wheelock maintained their impressive pace for the rest of the half as they took a 40-17 lead going into halftime.

Wheelock only outscored Lesley by two points in the second half as the Lynx were able to get their offense on track, but it was too late as the Wildcats walked away victorious.

Lesley will travel to Mitchell College on Saturday, January 24 for a 3:00 pm while Wheelock will host Elms College on the same day at the same time.
