CASTINE, Maine The Lesley University womens volleyball team kicked off their 2009 season by splitting a tri-match with host Maine Maritime Academy and UMaine-Machias. The Lynx were defeated in the opener by Maine Maritime 3-0, but responded with an impressive victory over Machias 3-0.

Elms College has been tabbed as the preseason favorite to capture the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) womens volleyball championship, it was announced today by Commissioner Del Malloy. Voting for the preseason poll was conducted among the NECCs head womens volleyball coaches.
