Lesley falls to Mount Ida in straight sets, 3-0

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The Lesley University women's volleyball team fought hard through three sets against Mount Ida but the Lynx fell to the Mustangs for the second time this season by the score of 3-0 (25-15, 25-22, 25-20).  Lesley dropped to 4-9 after the loss while Mount Ida improved to 7-7 (2-3 GNAC).

Lesley was competitive, holding a lead in two of the three sets but Mount Ida was able to run off multiple points in a row in take control of the match.  The Mustangs were able to take advantage of 10 service aces and minimal reception errors on their end. 

Mustangs junior Chelsea Darnell (DUBLIN, Ohio/Dublin Scioto) led all attackers with eights kills on 20 attempts and teammate Kira Feeter (KEENE, N.H./Keene) dished out 16 assists in the victory for Mount Ida. 

Several other Mount Ida players contributed in the victory including Christine Gallart (GERMANTOWN, Md./St. John's College) and Cherie Parisi (SOUTH ATTLEBORO, Mass./Attleboro) who each had five kills. 

For the Lynx, Megan Ortwein (SHANGHAI, China/Shanghai American) registered a team-high six kills on 19 attempts with just one error.  Meaghan Chadwick (CHELMSFORD, Mass./Chelmsford) and Amanda McCracken (ELDERSBURG, Md./Liberty) also were effective on the attack with five and four kills, respectively. 

Kaitlyn Miller (LEESPORT, Pa./Schuylkill Valley) had 14 set assists in the loss.

Lesley will next travel to Emmanuel College on October 8 for a 7:00 pm match while Mount Ida visits St. Joseph College (CT) for a tri-match including Albertus Magnus on October 3.
