CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Lesley University women’s
volleyball team faced Lasell College in their home opener but lost
the Lasers 3-0 (25-19, 25-14, 25-18). With the loss, the Lynx drop
to 1-2 on the early season while the Lasers got their first victory
of the season to move to 1-4.
Lasell was efficient on the attack and took advantage of 20
attacking errors by Lesley en route to victory. Lasers freshman
middle hitter Elizabeth Nichols (Southington,
Conn./Southington) led her team with five kills on 17
attacks with Eileen Barrett (Ludlow, Mass./Ludlow)
and Danielle Drapeau (Biddeford, Mass./Biddeford)
contributing with four kills a piece.
Meghan Crozier (Ballston Spa, N.Y./Ballston Spa)
dished out 11 set assists in the victory.
For the Lynx, Lindsey Marek (Killingworth,
Conn./Haddam-Killingworth) led all attackers with eight
kills and Kaitlyn Wechsler (Merrick, N.Y./Our Lady of Mercy
Academy) complemented her effort with five kills.
Freshman Kaitlyn Miller (Leesport, Pa./Schuylkill
Valley) tallied 22 set assists in her first home
match.
Lesley travels to Plymouth State College to compete in the Days Inn
of Campton Tournament this weekend starting on Friday while Lasell
competes in a trimatch with Norwich University and Castleton State
College in Vermont on September 12.
