Three's company: Dorval, Mangiaratti, Fountain take honors

CAMBRIDGE, MA -- Lesley's Jennifer Dorval, Emily Mangiaratti and Allison Fountain were named New England Collegiate Conference Pitcher of the Week, Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week, respectively, on Monday.

Dorval was at her all-time best this week, striking out 17 batters in a win at Regis on Saturday and throwing a perfect game in the Lynx victory at Elms on Sunday. She earned wins in complete game, nine-strikeout performances on Wednesday at Lasell and in Thursday's NECC win over Daniel Webster that sent the Lynx into first place, then fanning a career-high 17 Saturday at Regis.

Prior to her perfect game in Lesley's 9-0 win at Elms on Sunday, Dorval threw a pair of three-hitters and a four-hitter, improving to 9-1 on the year by going 4-0 on the week. In four starts, she allowed only three runs and struck out 41 in 26 innings with an ERA of 0.81.

Mangiaratti hit .542 with an .750 slugging percentage in the first-place Lynx 6-1 week. In her team's sweep of defending NECC runner-up Elms on Sunday, the junior went 4-for-7 with four runs scored. She launched her first career home run in Lesley's 7-2 win at Lasell, going 4-for-4 and scoring three times.

Her stick was crucial in Lesley's 6-0 win over Daniel Webster in which the Lynx overtook first place, knocking a three-run, bases-clearing triple to put Lesley ahead 4-0. The reigning NFCA All-New England designated player then went a combined 3-for-6 with three runs scored in Lesley's sweep of Regis on Saturday, tallying nine hits in 17 at-bats and scoring eight runs and driving in seven in five games.

Fountain hit .500, going 10-for-20 with six runs scored, four RBI's and reached base in 60 percent of her plate appearances on the week. Behind the plate, the sophomore caught all seven of the Lynx games as the receiver for a perfect game, a two-hitter, two three-hitters and a four-hitter, all Lesley victories, and was errorless defensively.

Dorval, Mangiaratti, Fountain and the Lynx return to play tomorrow at 3:30 p.m. at Wheelock.
