Eagles soar over Lynx in baseball series finale

NASHUA, NH -- Daniel Webster used a seven-run second inning to propel the Eagles 18-1 win and weekend series sweep over Lesley Sunday afternoon in NECC baseball play.

Senior first baseman Peter Plansky singled and scored for the Lynx, giving Lesley a 1-0 lead in the second, but Daniel Webster broke the game open in the bottom half of the inning.

The Eagles put up seven runs on six hits in the inning off Lynx starter Ryan Genua in what would be his shortest outing of the season. Elliot Kilgore started the rally with a two-run single, and Ryan Dupont concluded the scoring with a two-run double,

Junior Rich Lizotte, who went deep twice against the Lynx on Saturday, homered to open the Daniel Webster half of the third, marking Genua's final pitch in the left-hander's shortest outing of the season. The Lynx bullpen fared no better, with three pitchers combining to allow 10 runs in six innings of relief.

Daniel Webster's Korey LaLievre scattered seven hits and struck out five for the complete-game win.

Lesley shortstop Aqib Shah went 1-for-2 at the plate, giving the junior 11 hits over his last nine games. Freshman center fielder Robert Parson went 1-for-3 on Sunday, collecting his sixth hit in his last seven contests.

The Lynx return to the diamond at home Thursday night at 7:00 in non-conference play against Rivier College.
