Miller named NECC Player of the Week

CAMBRIDGE, MA -- Lesley University women's volleyball player Kaitlyn Miller has been named New England Collegiate Conference Player of the Week, the league announced Monday afternoon.

The sophomore setter led the Lynx to a 3-1 week, including a sweep of its NECC tri-match on Saturday, when the team locked up a second place finish at 6-1 in conference play and 17-9 overall.

Lesley sealed second place in its 3-0 win over Southern Vermont on Saturday, and as she did in all four of the team's contests, Miller led all players in set assists, with 33 against the Mountaineers. Earlier in the day, she turned in perhaps her most dominant performance to date in the Lynx 3-0 NECC win over Elms. On top of a game-high 29 assists, she led all players with nine service aces, including an amazing streak of six straight aces in her team's 25-15 Game 2 victory.

In non-conference play, Miller led the team with 14 assists, finishing second with five digs in Tuesday's 3-0 win at Curry. Monday night at Lasell, the Leesport, PA native tossed up a match-high 43 assists.

Miller's Lynx last week secured a bye for the first round of the NECC Playoffs. Lesley will take on either No. 5 Elms or No. 4 Newbury, playing the winner on the campus of Daniel Webster College on Friday night at 8:00. For Lesley's NECC Tournament preview, click here.
