NEWISA Full Release

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Senior forward Abby Kalou (Chicago, Ill.) was named to the New England Women's Intercollegiate Soccer Association (NEWISA) Division III All-New England Third Team as announced by the organization Friday.

The team, which was voted on by NCAA Division III coaches from colleges and universities in New England, is comprised of a First Team, Second Team, and a Third Team. For Kalou, Friday's announcement marked the first time in her career she has received this honor. She is also the first Lynx to receive this recognition since 2017.

Lesley women's soccer head coach, Paul Vasconcelos could not be happier for his star senior. "This is a great honor for Abby and the cherry on top of a wonderful collegiate career," said Vasconcelos. "We are so happy for her and her family. Abby is very talented, but this award is a testament to her hard work and dedication to the program, not just on the field, but every day in practice."

Kalou had a stellar year for the Lynx. The senior forward finished the year with a team-high nine goals and dished out five assists (23 points) in 20 games. Kalou also became the fourth student-athlete in program history to reach the 100-point milestone in a 7-0 win over Thomas College (Oct. 8). Kalou concludes her Lynx career with 41 goals and 26 assists for 108 points. Whenever she scored a goal this year, the Lynx were an impressive 9-0-0. She was also recognized as a NAC Co-Player of the Week this year during the week of October 15. With such a stellar season, she was recognized by NAC, earning a spot on the East Division's All-Conference First Team for the second time in her Lesley tenure. She also earned an invite to play in the NEWISA Senior Bowl in November. Kalou was also named a CSC Academic All-District recipient for the first time in her career.
