CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Abby Kalou (Chicago, Ill.) will represent Lesley University at the 2024 New England Women's Intercollegiate Soccer Association (NEWISA) Senior Bowl, as recently announced by the organization. This year's Senior Bowl is tentatively set to be played on the first weekend of December at Clark University's Granger Athletic Complex in Worcester, Mass.
Kalou is the first senior to play in the game since Karie Rubin and Samantha Turnbull did so in 2017.
Kalou had a stellar year for the Lynx. The senior forward finished the year with a team-high nine goals and dished out five assists (23 points) in 20 games played. Her nine goals rank her in the top five of the NAC (fifth). Kalou also became the fourth student-athlete in program history to reach the 100-point milestone in a 7-0 win over Thomas College (Oct. 8). Kalou concludes her Lynx career with 41 goals and 26 assists for 108 points. Whenever she scored a goal this year, the Lynx were an impressive 9-0-0. She was also recognized as a NAC Co-Player of the Week this year during the week of October 15. With such a stellar season, Kalou was recognized by NAC, earning a spot on the East Division's All-Conference First Team for the second time in her Lesley tenure. Kalou also earned CSC Academic All-District honors for the first time in her career.
About NEWISA
NEWISA, which stands for New England Intercollegiate Soccer Association, announced its participants for its annual Senior Bowl, which will be held on the first weekend of December. The organization, founded in the early 1980s before the NCAA recognized women's soccer as a sport, has held this game every year, weather permitting, to honor those players who helped grow the sport and their programs over the past four(or five) years. The game, featuring two teams of players from all three NCAA Divisions, is the longest-run Senior All-Star game in the United States.
