NAC SEMIFINALS: Women's Soccer Season Comes to an End Falling to Husson, 3-0

THE BASICS
Lesley University, 0 vs. Husson University, 3

Location: Bangor, Maine. - John P. Boucher Field

Date: Sunday, November 3, 2024

THE LEAD The No. 2 seeded Lesley University women's soccer team saw its 2024 season come to a close after falling to No.1 seeded Husson University, 3-0, in Sunday's North Atlantic Conference (NAC) semifinals matchup.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Husson started the scoring right away thanks to a Lindsey Russell score. Mackenzie Lambert pushed ahead inside the 18-yard box and found Devon St. Louis nearby, and one-timed her pass back to Russell, who rifled home a high arching shot in the upper right corner just out of Lauren Lacy's (Colorado Springs, Colo.) reach.
  • The Eagles continued their aggressive play and increased their lead to two (2-0) when Kate Harriman put home a shot that ricocheted off the left post into the net after receiving a great look from Lambert.
  • Lesley had a solid chance toward the end of the first to cut into the deficit when Leecy Cruz (San Antonio, Texas) put a shot on net but was stopped by Eagles goalie Hannah Kenney. Shortly after, at the 43:41 mark, Abby Kalou (Chicago, Ill.) had a chance of her own and put a shot straight on Kenney but was also turned away as the Lynx headed into the half down two.
  • Husson once again started fast as the Eagles potted their third goal at 50:38 when Harriman netted her second goal of the contest after beating Lacy one-on-one.
  • The Lynx continued to fight and try to cut into the deficit as the squad took four shots but were turned away by Kenney and the Husson defense, and the hosts would hold on for the 3-0 win.
