THE LEAD In its regular season finale, the Lesley University women's soccer team blanked Mass. Maritime, 6-0 Wednesday evening. With the win, the Lynx finished the regular season at 10-6-2 and have now finished with at least 10 or more wins each year since 2007.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Lesley got the scoring started 26 minutes into the first (26:26) thanks to Sacha Porter (Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif.)Leecy Cruz (San Antonio, Texas) had the ball down in the Mass. Maritime zone toward the right sideline and found an open Lauren Rudolph (Winchester, Va.) right across from her. From there, Rudolph swung her pass to a wide-open Porter on the other side of the Buccaneers side of the field and booted in a high curling shot over the reach of Bucs goalie Reagan Kerecz.
  • A little over a minute later (27:47), the Lynx struck again, courtesy of Elsie Koehler (Portland, Ore.). Cruz set up another Lynx goal when she had the ball towards the right side of the goalie box and found Koehler near the top of the box, putting her shot home over the right side of Kerecz.
  • With less than five minutes left in the first (41:05), Lesley increased its lead to three when Cruz sent a cross pass from the right sideline to Zoe Curtaz (Novato, Calif.) in the goalie box, who headed in her shot for the 3-0 advantage.
  • The Lynx's high-powered offense continued into the second when Rudolph potted the squad's fourth goal (62:01) after she corralled a loose ball in front of the net after a Chase Livesey (St. Petersburg, Fla.) free kick. Nearly four minutes later (66:46), Lesley scored once again after Abby Kalou (Chicago, Ill.) sent a crossing pass in front of the Bucs net from the left side, and Livesey scored with a nifty backfoot kick that made it 5-0.
  • As the second started to wind down (81:30), Lesley tacked on its sixth goal when Marissa De La Rosa (Phoenix, Ariz.) made a hard push on the Mass. Maritime's left sideline near the net and then found Kylie Chagnon (Framingham, Mass.) in the middle of the goalie box, who one-timed her pass to Rudolph nearby and took advantage of an out-of-place Kerecz.
