THE LEAD—Thanks to two goals from Chase Livesey (St. Petersburg, Fla.), the Lesley University women's soccer team topped Framingham State, 4-0, Wednesday evening.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Thanks to solid defense early on by both sides, neither offense was able to score for the first 24 minutes. However, Lesley broke the scoreless draw when Lily Wright (Haymarket, Va.) found the back of the net thanks to assists from Maya Spatafore and Livesey.
- Framingham State had a chance for the equalizer at 27:33, but Lynx goalie Lauren Lacy (Colorado Springs, Colo.) made the crucial stop to preserve the 1-0 lead. As the half started to come to a close (40:08), Lesley doubled its lead when Leecy Cruz (San Antonio, Tex.) with help from Rachel Weinzimer (Woodland, Hills, Calif.).
- Less than 10 minutes into the second (51:33), Liversey pushed the Lynx advantage to three when she buried her shot after Bethany Slivka (Berkley, Mass.) and Cruz set her up.
- As the second half went on, Lesley's defense and Lacy kept the Rams offense at bay. At the 81:55 mark, the Lynx added on another insurance goal courtesy of another Livesey goal set up by Cruz's second assist of the night.
