THE LEAD – Lesley University cruised to a 6-1 victory over UMaine Presque Isle Saturday afternoon in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) women's soccer action at Minuteman Field in Lexington, Mass.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Lesley opened the action with three consecutive goals to set the tone for the afternoon as Ariana Bunch (Newton, Mass.) opened the scoring with a goal in the 11th minute to make it 1-0.
  • Senior Abby Kalou (Chicago, Ill.) made it 2-0 before Kalou fed Kylie Chagnon (Framingham, Mass.) for the third goal of the half to put the hosts on top, 3-0.
  • UMPI's Lexi Ireland helped the Owls avoid a shutout with a outstanding individual effort on the left wing, finding the top right corner of the goal with a left-footed strike to get the visitors on the board at the 38:11 marker to temporarily make it a 3-1 game.
  • 28 seconds later, Chagnon and Kalou hooked up for the second time of the half as Chagnon deposited her second goal in under five minutes of play to bump the lead to 4-1 before the break.
  • In the second stanza, senior defender Isabella Danna (Miami, Fla.) scored from long range with a blast from 40 yards out to move the score to 5-1 early in the half before Lily Wright (Haymarket, Va.) deposited an unassisted tally in the 64th minute to cap the scoring at 6-1.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

  • The Lynx dominated the shots margin on the day, outshooting UMPI 47-2.
  • Despite the loss, first year keeper Mia Voisine (3-2) was outstanding in net for the Owls making a season-high 19 saves.
  • LU senior Lauren Lacy (Colorado Springs, Colo.) improved to 2-1-1 on the season making with the win.
  • Both Kalou and Chagnon finished the day with four points each.
  • The multi-goal game for Chagnon was her first of the season and fourth of her college career.
  • Wright's goal was the first of her college career.
