THE LEAD – The Lynx played a tough game but were unable to hold back the Amherst offense in the first half as they put four goals on the board. The Lynx held Amherst to two goals in the second but ultimately gave up the win.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Lynx defense was able to hold the game to an 0-0 score until the 21st minute when Patience Kum was able to dribble around Lolo Lacy and put it in the back of the net, off a pass from Brooke Ingemi.
- Three minutes later Inegmi send another pass in, this time to Ally Deegan who put it directly into the Lynx net.
- Deegan netted another goal just five minutes later when Alyssa Huynh sent a through pass to Deegan on the right side, which she was able to one-time into the top left corner of the Lynx net.
- Huynh netted one unassisted just three minutes later after she was able to make a quick spin and shot around the Lynx defenders.
- The first ten minutes of the second half were scoreless until Fiona Bernet was able to put one in off a corner from Precious Novidzro.
- The last goal of the game came in the 78th minute, Abby Schwartz came down the side and sent a through pass to Ingemi on the far left where she was able to send it right to the back of the net.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Ingemi recorded two assists and a goal on the match.
- Deegan recorded two assists.
- Lynx Lolo Lacy put up 7 saves on the match.
- This is the fourth time the Lynx and Mammoths have met up on the pitch, Amherst blanking Lesley each time.
