Lynx Shut Out by Judges, End Win Streak at 4

GAME OVERVIEW:

CAMBRIDGE, MA. -- The Lesley Women's soccer team suffered only their second loss of the season on a rainy Wednesday night, falling to the non-conference Brandeis Judges 2-0 at home. The Lynx fall to 8-2 on the season, while the Judges improve to 8-2 and grab their fourth shut out in a row.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE:

  • The first half began as a quiet affair, with both defenses stonewalling the opposing offenses. Hope Seasholes made some great plays for the Lynx, while Mackenzie Smith and Meagan McDonough held off the Lynx attack.
  • In the 26th minute, Emma Spector had a chance for the Judges, but her header off a corner hit the crossbar. The Lynx defense was unable to clear the ball far enough, as it fell right to the feet of Caroline Swan. Swan was able to net a chip shot right over the outstretched hand of Brittley Gaan.
  • The Judges were able to break through the Lynx defense, but Lesley struggled on the opposite end. They were unable to get their first shot of the game off until just a few minutes before the half ended and were outshot 8-1 in the first 45 minutes.
  • Lesley was able to push the attack in the second half, getting off six shots compared to Brandeis' three. They were not able to get one past Victoria Richardson, who saved all four shots directed at her.
  • Brandeis managed to get another one past Gaan in the 56th minute, as a barrage of headers led from Spector to Juliette Carreiro to the back of the net.
  • Gaan put up a great effort despite the two miscues, saving four of six shots while consistently directing traffic for her defense and coming out of net to take balls.
  • Richardson improved her record to 8-2 on the season, while Gaan fell to 3-2.
