Apgar, Fralick, Lynx cut down Elms, 5-0

CAMBRIDGE, MA -- Lesley University knocked off Elms College in New England Collegiate Conference women's soccer play Saturday evening on a rainy Edward Field, 5-0.

Jenna Fralick (Woburn, MA/Woburn) got the Lynx on the board on a through ball from sophomore Veronica Halen (San Diego, CA/Cathedral Catholic) at the 12:00 mark. At 26:53, Sarah Apgar fired a shot from 30 yards deep on the right wing that beat keeper Kelly Callahan (Monson, MA/Monson) for Apgar's second goal of the season and Lesley's second of the contest.

After the teams went into halftime at 2-0, Fralick and Apgar struck again in to break the game open in the second. Fralick's fired her second of the night into the bottom left corner of the net on a feed from Tracy Potter (Acton, MA/Acton-Boxborough). Apgar found the same corner of the net a minute later, at 61:07, on a feed from Halen from inside the 20, and Kate Ryder (Glastonbury, CT/Glastonbury) would add her second score of the year to make it a 5-0 final.

In spite of allowing five goals, Callahan made a match-best 10 saves, several of them of the diving, sprawling and colliding variety.

With its third straight win, Lesley improves to 6-3-0 overall and 2-0-0 in NECC play. Its four-game undefeated streak snapped, Elms falls to 3-3-2 on the year and 0-1-1 in the NECC.

The Lynx return to action Tuesday night at 8:00 in league play against Bay Path College.
