Lynx cruise past Maritime for third straight win

BUZZARDS BAY, MA -- The Lynx jumped out to a 3-0 first half lead and improved to 3-2 on the season with a third straight win, 5-0, at Mass Maritime Saturday afternoon.

Jackee Sanchez turned in her second straight two-goal effort while goalkeeper Emileigh Lloyd extended her scoreless streak to over 300 minutes with her third straight shutout.

Jenna Fralick commenced the Lynx scoring for a second consecutive game, netting a header on a feed from Sanchez in the 10th minute. Five minutes later, Sanchez scored on a cross from fellow sophomore Sarah Apgar, upping the lead to 2-0.

Sanchez's second assist of the game and team-high third of the season came on a feed to second-year midfielder Veronica Halen at 24:34, when Halen's fifth goal of 2011 put Lesley ahead 3-0 going into halftime.

Sanchez tied Halen atop the team lead in goals with her fifth, an unassisted score at the 55:00 mark. Courtney Hopkins' first goal of the year came on senior Haley Puckhaber's first assist at 88:20 as the Lynx won their third straight, 5-0.

Lesley outshot the Buccaneers 16-0 in the first half and 35-0 on the day, taking all six corner kicks.

At 3-2-0, Lesley returns to play Tuesday night at Edward Field with an 8:00 tilt against Cambridge rival MIT.
