CAMBRIDGE, MA – Lesley University defeated Emerson College, 5-0, to capture the First Annual Women's Charles River Cup between the two schools on a rainy Wednesday night at Edward Field.
Jackee Sanchez scored two goals for the Lynx and Veronica Halen added a goal and an assist as Lesley evened its record at 2-2-0 on the season.

Jenna Fralick (Woburn, MA/Woburn) got Lesley on the board at 4:16 with a shot from straight on coming off a Sarah Apgar (Andover, NJ/Lenape) cross. At 30:01, Jackee Sanchez (Santa Clarita, CA/Golden Valley) added an unassisted score to make it a 2-0 contest at halftime, with the Lynx outshooting the Lions 8-1 over the first 45 minutes.
At 70:00, freshman Alexis Giusti (Meridian, CA/Yuba City) upped Lesley's lead to 3-0 on a header from Veronica Halen (San Diego, CA/Cathedral Catholic). The sophomore Halen joined in on the act less than two minutes later, scoring her team-leading fourth goal of the year at 71:58 to increase the Lynx lead to 4-0.
Sanchez widened the margin to 5-0 by following up her own miss from five yards at 72:24, as Lesley won its second straight.
Lynx freshman keeper Emileigh Lloyd (Middletown, PA/Middletown) earned a second straight shutout, making one save in the process. For Emerson, Alexandra Altman made seven saves.
Lesley travels to Mass Maritime on Saturday at 4 p.m.
