CAMBRIDGE, MA – Lesley took care of Wheelock College in short order Saturday morning, besting the Wildcats 9-0 in New England Collegiate Conference women's soccer play at Edward Field.

            The Lynx struck at 5:21, when freshman Jackee Sanchez (Fair Oaks Ranch, CA/Golden Valley), in her first action in four games, struck from under 10 yards and straight on off a give from Ally Durben (Stow, CT/Nashoba Regional). Lesley upped its lead to 2-0 at 18:29, when Durben intercepted a pass inside the Wildcats keeper box and sent a low line drive past goalie Alexandra Chiesa for her third goal of the season.

            In spite of outshooting Wheelock 20-0 over the first 30:00, the Wildcats stingy defense kept it a 2-0 contest into the last two minutes of the half, when Durben struck again.

            The senior midfielder's well-placed corner kick found Casey Decareau (Haverhill, MA/Georgetown), whose header gave Lesley a 3-0 cushion going into halftime.

            Needless to say, for Paul Vasconcelos' club, the momentum carried over into the second half.

            In the first 8:00 of the frame, Haley Puckhaber (Lake Placid, NY/Lake Placid) tallied an unassisted score and Durben threw in her second of the game, upping the Lynx lead to 5-0 at the 52:40 mark.

            Vasconcelos' reserves chipped in during the second, as first-year midfielder Sarah Bassett found the back of the net at 60:17 on an assist from Kelsey Fitzgerald (Upton, MA/Nipmuc). After Courtney Hopkins' (Watertown, MA/Watertown) first goal of 2010, freshman Hannah McGrath (Fairfield, CT/Warde) tallied her first goal in a Lesley uniform on a pass from Sarah Apgar.

            Finally, at 85:00, Fitzgerald added an unassisted marker to wrap up the 9-0 route. Lesley outshot Wheelock 41-0 on the day, with Wildcats keeper Alexandra Chiesa (Medford, MA/Medford) making 16 saves.  

            Lesley returns to action on Wednesday at Becker College. Wheelock has the week off before traveling to Daniel Webster next Saturday.
