Prolific, balanced MIT attack to much for Lynx

CAMBRIDGE, MA – Three different players scored two goals a piece, and goalkeeper Meghan Wright tied a school record with her fourth consecutive shutout as the Lynx suffered an 8-0 setback at the hands of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Tuesday afternoon at Steinbrenner Field.

Alisha Lussiez, Emily Kuo and Lauren Hernley all scored a pair of goals, with the latter two each adding two assists. The Engineers used two Kuo goals and a Lussiez score all within a four minute span midway through the first half to break open was a 1-0 contest.

Another Lussiez tally, this at 32:16, followed by Hernley's first goal at 39:12, sent the Engineers into the locker room with a 6-0 lead.

For the Lynx, Jenna Fralick registered a team-best four shots, tying Kuo and Hernley for game-high honors with three shots on goal. Jackee Sanchez added three shots, two on goal, for Lesley, which utilized 24 players and was outshot 19-10 on the day.

While Wright tied an MIT team record it also reached last season with four straight shutouts, the Lynx were blanked for a second game in a row. Goalkeeper Corrine Dasti stopped three shots in net for the Lynx.

Lesley falls to 4-3-1 on the season, while MIT improves to 6-1-0.

Paul Vasconcelos' team returns to the field on Saturday at 1 p.m., opening New England Collegiate Conference play at home against Daniel Webster.
