Women's soccer to face Mitchell in NECC Championship

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - In a New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) semifinal match against Becker College (11-8, 5-3 NECC), the Lesley University (14-4-1, 8-0 NECC) women's soccer team were victorious 3-0 and moved on to the conference championship. 

The Lynx will host Mitchell College on Saturday, November 7 at 1:00 pm after the Mariners defeated Elms College 3-2 in the other conference semifinal match of the day.

Lesley freshman Kate Ryder (GLASTONBURY, Conn./Mercy) put the Lynx up 1-0 in the 13th minute of the first half to kick off the scoring.  Defender Tracy Potter (ACTON, Mass./Acton-Boxborough Regional) send a long untouched pass into Hawk territory which was redirected through the box by Jodi Fralick (WOBURN, Mass./Woburn).  Ryder collected the ball and fired a shot to the right corner for the first goal of the match. 

Becker looked to tie up the match in the 22nd minute as sophomore striker Alexandra Fernandes (TUCSON, Ariz./St. Gregory) headed a cross pass from point-blank range but Lynx goalkeeper Hailee Lowe (HAMILTON, Mass./Hamilton-Wenham Regional) made a diving save.  Lowe would finish with five saves on the day without giving up a goal.

Later in the first half at 22:55, Lesley freshman Jamie Coyne (MANSFIELD, Mass./Bishop Feehan) scored her first career collegiate goal after one-timing a lead pass from teammate Jenna Fralick (WOBURN, Mass./Woburn) over Hawks keeper Shannon Tibbetts' (WARREN, Mass./Quaboag Regional) hands.

Tibbetts faced 9 shots on goal, making six saves and allowing three goals for the Hawks in net.

Following halftime, Lesley's Jodi Fralick scored her 30th goal of the season with an assist from Ryder at 59:20 to cap off the scoring for the Lynx.
