CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The Lesley University women's soccer team shutout Mitchell College 4-0 on Tuesday evening, improving their 2009 record to 7-2-1 (2-0 NECC).  Mitchell dropped to 1-7 (1-1 NECC) following the loss.

Lesley outshot Mitchell 38-1 in the match and scored two goals in both the first and second half.

In the first half, Jodi Fralick (WOBURN, Mass./Woburn) scored her 12th goal of the season in the fifth minute.  Defender Sarah Etzel (MANORVILLE, N.Y./Bellport) sent a long cross pass into the goalie box that Fralick redirected with a header past Mitchell keeper Brittany O'Neil (OLD SAYBROOK, Conn./Old Saybrook).  Later in the half, Cathryn Folkestad (IPSWICH, Mass./Ipswich) made it a 2-0 match by connecting on a free ball in front of the goalie box.  It was Folkestad's third goal of the season.

The Mariners held the Lynx to a two-goal advantage up until the 72nd minute when freshman Sarah Levitt (SILVER SPRING, Md./James Hubert Blake) collected a ball deflected by the Mitchell defense and rocketed a shot to the back of the net for her second goal of 2009.  Less than three minutes later at 73:54, Jenna Fralick (WOBURN, Mass./Woburn) sailed a shot from the top of the 18 over the keeper's hands for the final goal of the match and her fifth goal.

Mitchell managed to get one shot attempt on goal from Nikki Hoxie (WINSTED, Conn./Gilbert School) but Lesley keeper Miranda Matson (GIG HARBOR, Wash./Peninsula) made her lone save of the match.

Matson improved to 3-0 on the season in victory and recorded her third shutout.

Lesley travels to Wheaton College on Thursday, October 1 for a 4:00 pm non-conference match.  Mitchell hosts Newbury College on Saturday, October 3 at 2:00 pm.
