Lasell denies Lesley's 16th win on Senior Night

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Lesley University hosted their final regular season home contest on Thursday evening, but lost to Lasell College 1-0 in a hard-fought match from both teams.  Lasell improves their record to 8-4-2 (6-3-2 GNAC) and Lesley drops to 15-2-1 (7-0-0 NECC).  Following the end of the game, the Lynx honored four-year starter Lani Cabral-Pini (Wilmington, Mass.) with Senior Night activities.

The Lasers scored the only goal of the match at 19:02 when Liz McGeoy (Doylestown, Pa.) found the back of the net, unassisted, to put her team of 1-0.  Several Lasers filled the goalie box, but it was McGeoy who found the loose ball to put home the goal past Lynx keeper Hailee Lowe (Hamilton, Mass.).

Lowe was able to make four saves in the match while her counterpart, Jamie Remmers (West Islip, N.Y.), completed the 90 minute shutout with nine saves.

Lesley had a few opportunities to tie the match in the second half.  Jodi Fralick (Woburn, Mass.) crossed a ball into the box but the outstretched legs of Cabral-Pini and Jenna Fralick (Woburn, Mass.) could not finish off the lead pass.  Halely Puckhaber (Lake Placid, N.Y.) also came close to delivering a game-tying goal off a similar crossing passing from teammate Jodi Fralick.

Despite the loss, the women's soccer team along with a mass of supporters celebrated Lani Cabral-Pini's women's soccer career at Lesley University.  Ever since the 2005 season, Cabral-Pini has worked endlessly to build the women's soccer program at Lesley into the competitive and respected program it is today.  Without her efforts over the past four years, the Lady Lynx would not be where they are today.

The Lynx will cap off regular season play with a crucial match up with fellow undefeated NECC opponent Elms College at Chicopee, Massachusetts on Saturday at 1:00 pm.  Lasell will host a non-conference match with Wheelock College on Saturday starting at noon.
