Lynx women's soccer runs a clinic for Charlestown Youth Soccer

CHARLESTOWN, Mass. - On Monday evening, the Lesley University women's soccer team lent a helping hand to the Charlestown Youth Soccer program as the team helped coached over 70 players ages 6-12 years old.  The clinic focused on getting the youngsters lots of touches on the ball with some instruction, all while keeping things fun.

The Charlestown Youth Soccer players were broken down into several different age groups with the Lynx women's soccer players acting as coaches for each group.  Drills that focused on basic touching skills, passing, ball handling, and shooting were all part of the agenda.

The clinic gave the women's soccer team and opportunity to take a breather from their hectic fall schedule of constant practicing and playing.  Visiting a local youth soccer organization also gave the Lynx an chance to give back to one of the surrounding communities.

"We had been wanting to do something like this for a while," noted Head Coach Paul Vasconcelos.  "The fall schedule is always so tight, but this year we made it work and the kids and our players seemed to have enjoyed themselves.  We hope to start doing this with other organizations in the area."

Lesley will go back to preparing for the final three matches of the regular season that includes two crucial NECC matches against Newbury College and Elms College.  The Lynx will also host their final home game against non-conference opponent Lasell College for Senior Night.
