CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The Lesley University women's soccer team defeated Lancaster Bible College 5-0 behind a hat trick from Jodi Fralick (Woburn, Mass.) and a pair of goals by Emma Fogg (Wellesley, Mass.). It was the first match of the 2008 season for both teams.
Under ten minutes into the first half, Fralick would tie Lesley's all-time scoring mark of 45 career goals, previously set by Laura Olsen, with a light tap to the back left corner of the net.
Fralick would need only ten more minutes to break the record as the 2007 North Atlantic Conference Co-Player of the year blasted the ball with her right foot directly at Chargers keeper Kirsten Shoemaker (Cochranville, Pa.) who let the ball slip through her fingers.
After Fralick scored her third goal to put the Lynx up 3-0, Fogg got her opportunities to score in the second half. At 49:34, Alyson Durben (Stow, Mass.) hit a cross 40 feet inside the box to Fogg who headed the ball to the back of the net.
Fogg would net the game's final goal just two minutes later as she hit the ball past the outstretched arms of Shoemaker again.
The Lynx will look to carry their momentum from game one of the season into Sunday's match up with Thomas College in Waterville, Maine. Lancaster Bible College will complete their New England trip with a contest against Regis College on Sunday afternoon.
