Coach Paul Vasconcelos named Coach of the Year by NAC

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Lesley University women's soccer Head Coach Paul Vasconcelos capped off a season to remember by capturing Co-Coach of the Year honors from the North Atlantic Conference.

Coach Vasconcelos led the Lady Lynx to a 14-4-1 (6-4-1 NAC) record and a #4 seed in the NAC Championships tournament.  The Lynx improved from 2 wins in 2006 to 14 in 2007, a turnaround which was recognized by the NCAA.  The 2007 Lesley women's soccer team now holds the all-time NCAA DIII record for Most Improved Season.

To earn this title, Coach Vasconcelos recruited a talented group of players to be a powerful force on the soccer field.  This hard work and dedication helped produce two First Team All-Conference, one Second Team All-Conference, one Honorable Mention, and a Co-Player of the Year in the NAC.

"I am honored to be recognized by the North Atlantic Conference for my efforts this season," commented Coach Vasconcelos.  "Finishing the season with a great record and having several of our players earn conference accolades only emphasizes how good this program has become.  We have a lot of young players so we expect similar results as we move on to the New England Collegiate Conference next season."

Despite an early exit in the NAC playoffs, the Lesley University women's soccer team made its mark on the NAC in 2007.  Their explosive offense and tough defense made them one of the most feared teams in the conference.
