Lynx Win Kick-Off Tournament

NASHUA, N.H. - The Lesley women's soccer team won the Eagle Kickoff Classic this past holiday weekend on the campus of Daniel Webster College.

In the title game, tournament Offensive MVP Jodi Fralick (Woburn, Mass.) notched two goals 44 seconds apart and Kate Stickles (Newtown, Conn.) added another 58 seconds later to pace Lesley past Mount St. Mary's to win the tourney title.

Fralick buried a low shot 15:16 into the contest to put the Lynx (2-0) ahead, and followed by converting a penalty kick at the 16-minute mark. Stickles followed at 16:58, knocking in an Alyson Durben (Stow, Mass.) corner kick. The three quick strikes would prove to be more than enough as the Lesley defense tightened and held the Blue Knights (1-1) scoreless until the final five minutes of the match.

Hailee Lowe (Hamilton, Mass.) made six stops in goal for Lesley, while Megan Cotta (Point Pleasant, N.J.) made five stops for Mount St. Mary's.

Kristen Maggio (Smithtown, N.Y.) broke up Lowe's shutout bid with an unassisted tally with 3:37 to play.

"We are pleased with this weekends results, it gives us a bit more confidence as our schedule starts to get stronger. The defense played especially well and some freshman really came up big, which is all very promising." said Lynx Head Coach Paul Vasconcelos.

Along with Fralick's offensive award, Blue Knight Kristen Piatkowski (Madison, N.J.) was named Defensive MVP. Lesley's next match is Wednesday against Pine Manor College at 4:00 p.m.  For more information on the Lesley women's soccer program please go to their website.
