THE LEAD – The Lesley University women's basketball team wrapped up its weekend in Maine with a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) matchup at UMaine Farmington, where the Lynx fell 92-43 Sunday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • In the first quarter, it was all Farmington as the hosts jumped out to a quick 8-2 lead after a Grace Dwyer three before the Lynx called a timeout. Coming out of the break, after a Leila Chisholm (Santa Barbara, Calif.) jumper made it a seven-point game (11-4), the Beavers offense pulled away thanks to an 8-0 run for a 19-4 advantage with 4:04 left to play in the first.
  • From then on, the hosts closed out the remainder of the quarter on a 13-4 stretch for a 32-8 advantage after one. Jazmine Pingree led the Farmington offense during the run with five points, which included a made three.
  • The second quarter saw more of a defensive battle as Farmington only outscored Lesley 13-6. Chisholm continued her strong play from the first and scored the first four Lesley points to start the second, but the hosts continued to keep Lesley at bay, and after a Jessica Dow layup made it 38-12 with 5:12 left until halftime, Lesley was forced to take another timeout. After the timeout, the Beavers finished the second on a 7-2 run that gave them a 45-14 lead going into halftime.
  • As the third quarter got underway, Farmington's offense continued where it left off, and after the hosts scored the opening bucket of the quarter, the Beavers took a 30-second timeout. Coming out of the break, Farmington continued to roll, and while a Madalynn Biagi (Lincoln, Calif.) three got Lesley its 20th point, the Beavers finished the rest of the quarter on a 13-7 stretch for a 66-27 advantage going into the final quarter.
  • In the fourth, Farmington scored the first 10 points of the frame, leading to a Lesley timeout with 7:47 remaining. After the Lynx timeout, the Beaver's offense was not deterred as the hosts went on a 14-8 run and pushed the lead to 90-35 before another Lesley timeout. For the last 2:42 of the contest, Lesley outscored Farmington 8-2, led by Ahidali DeHuelbes (Tucson, Ariz.), scoring all eight of those points. However, Farmington would still end up securing a 93-42 win.
