THE LEAD – The Lesley University women's basketball resumed its six-game road trip with a non-conference matchup at Fitchburg State where the Lynx fell, 67-29 Tuesday evening.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Falcons offense started off fast and never looked back as the hosts opened up scoring the first 11 points led by Kathryn Hart's five points. Despite a three from Leila Chisholm (Santa Barbara, Calif.) to try and break up the Falcons momentum, Fitchburg continued its strong shooting and closed out the first quarter on a 10-0 run for an 18-point lead after one.
- After Jaira Moore (Chula Vista, Calif.) knocked down two early free throws in the second (8:28), Fitchburg's offense continued where it left off in the first by outscoring Lesley, 16-9 which led to a 25-point halftime lead. Allison Prentis paced the Falcons in the second with three points and six others registered at least two points.
- Ahidali DeHuelbes (Tucson, Ariz.) scored the opening points in the third with a driving layup but despite the early bucket, Fitchburg went on a 9-0 run for a 29-point advantage before the Falcons called a 30-second timeout. Coming out of the break, the Falcons closed out the third on a 5-0 spurt for the 32-point lead after three.
- In the fourth, it was more of the same as Fitchburg's offense continued to roll grabbing its largest lead of the night with less than three minutes left when Emma Adisa made her layup.
- However, with 1:49 left, Baileigh Sinaman-Daniel (Stafford, Va.) knocked down her first career basket from just inside the three-point line of the left side.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Moore led the squad in scoring with nine points on the night with seven of her points coming from the free throw line.
