THE LEAD –  Lesley University opened the 2024-25 women's basketball campaign with a 58-42 win over Purchase College Friday afternoon in the season-opener for both squad in the SUNY Delhi Tip-Off Classic.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• The game began with a tight defensive battle, with the Lynx edging out Purchase 10-6 in the first quarter.
• In the second, LU hit its stride, outscoring the Panthers 21-9 to take a 31-15 lead into halftime.
• Purchase fought to close the gap in the second half but struggled to keep pace with Lesley's momentum.
• A determined fourth-quarter push saw the Panthers outscore the Lynx 17-10, but they ultimately fell short, with a final score of 58-42.

INSIDE THE NUMERS  

• Junior center Bella Terry (El Cajon, Calif.) enjoyed a stellar Lesley debut with a double-double and game-highs in points (20) and rebounds (12), while adding three steals and three assists in 27 minutes.
• Sophomore guard Savannah Gravitt (Richmond Hill, Ga.) chipped in with 10 points and a pair of triples while junior Madalynn Biagi (Lincoln, Calif.) stuffed the stat sheet with eight rebounds, five assists, four points, three steals and a blocked shot in the win.
• Carlye Graff led the Panthers with 16 points, shooting 7-for-16 from the field and adding three rebounds. Making a strong return from an injury last year, Charlee Neb followed with 14 points, contributing two rebounds and two steals. 
• The Lynx owned a +16 rebounding advantage in the win (43-27).
• The Panthers shot 30.4% from the field but struggled from the free-throw line, going 3-for-14. Lesley capitalized on second-chance points and points off turnovers to secure their win.
• The season-opening win snaps a 17-year slide, marking the first "W" to open a Lesley women's basketball campaign since a 71-24 victory over Yeshiva on November 17, 2007 in the 2007-08 season-opener.
