Slow Second Quarter Sinks Lynx Against Mitchell

GAME OVERVIEW:

MEDFORD, MA. -- The Lesley Women's Basketball team could not overcome a second quarter defecit as they fell to the Mitchell College Mariners 65-47 on Thursday night. The Lynx fall to 2-8 overall this season, while the Mariners move up to 5-4.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE:

  • The game was tied after the first quarter as Sydnie Drezek and Kizziah Ruff led the way for the Lynx. Drezek dropped nine points, while Ruff had seven, both outscoring anyone on the Mitchell side. Mitchell did hold a lead heading into the final minute of the quarter, but Ruff sank a three with an assist by Hillary Berry to tie it.
  • Mitchell took control of the game in the second quarter, led by seven points from Le'Sandra Turner. The Lynx were only able to make two shots in the quarter as they were outscored 19 to 6 to go down by thirteen heading into half.
  • Lesley shot better in the second half, but the Mariners were able to keep their lead by capitalizing on second chances. The Mariners had ten offensive boards to Lesley's one in the second half.
  • The Mariners were led by Turner's 15 points, while Yasmine Santos and Alexia Watson each had eleven. Ruff led the Lynx with eighteen points, while Drezek picked up seventeen points and eight rebounds.
