Pereira Earns 1,000 Career Point in 27 Point Night

GAME OVERVIEW:

Poultney, Vt.-- Graduate Student Theresa Pereira recorded her 1,000th career point in a dominant 27 point game high performance in Lesley's 97-64 loss at Green Mountain College.  With the loss, the Lynx drop to 0-8 on the season while the Eagles improve to 3-4 overall.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE:

  • The Eagles came out aggressively in a full court press which resulted in a 12-0 run to begin the game and extended their lead to as much as 20 points to cap off a dominant first quarter.
  • Green Mountain continued their offense into the second stanza with nine different Eagles adding to their 25 point second quarter.  Pereira, Abby Henderson, and Dakota Jones combined for the Lynx 14 points, but it was the Eagles who took a 54-20 lead going into the half.
  • Lesley came out of the break showing a tighter offense only allowing 3 turnovers, while forcing 5 turnovers on the home squad. Pereira and Jones showed offensive sparks for the Lynx with Pereira hitting two shots from down town and six free throws for 12 points, and Jones working the paint for three buckets and four foul shots for 10 points in the third.  The Lynx were able to outscore the Eagles 26-22 in the opening ten minutes of the second half, but a dominant first quarter allowed the Eagles to hold on to a thirty point lead entering the final quarter and claim the eventual 97-64 non-conference win.
  • Pereira had a season high 27 points and five from long range, including earning her 1,000th career point in the second quarter.  Jones continues to shine on both sides of the ball recording her eighth straight double-double with a season high 23 points and 15 rebounds.  Henderson chipped in 10 points and 6 rebounds in the loss.
  • Six Eagles players had double digit scoring nights in their explosive offense.  Sharena Armstrong (15pts), Taylor Hill (14pts), and Brittanny Frasier (14pts), lead the starting line up, while Haleigh Benally and Sabrina Simili combined for 25 points off the bench.
