Jones Collects Third Straight NECC Rookie of the Week Award

ATTLEBORO, Mass. – For the third time in as many weeks – and the fourth time this season – Lesley University freshman Dakota Jones (Torrance, Calif.) has been named the New England Collegiate Conference Rookie of the Week. NECC Assistant Commissioner for Media Relations Rebecca Mullen made the announcement today in the conference Weekly Report.

Jones has been a rebounding machine and broke the Lesley single-game record, collecting 21 boards in a win over UMaine-Presque Isle on Saturday. The freshman currently leads the NECC with 12.1 rebounds per game.

Dakota Jones, Lesley (Fr., F, Torrance, Calif.) - Jones wraps up her third straight NECC Rookie of the Week award following another monster week where she averaged a double-double and led the Lynx to a 2-1 record. Jones tied the Lesley single-game rebound record before breaking the mark by pulling down a career-high 21 in a 61-53 victory over UMaine-Presque Isle. The rookie added 15 points in the win over the Owls for her tenth double-double of the season. Jones finished with 10 points and 20 boards in a 60-52 victory over Bay Path and averaged 11.3 points, 15 rebounds, and 1.3 blocks in the week.
