Hot Start Propels Dean Past Women's Basketball

FRANKLIN, Mass. – Lesley University freshman Kylie Lounder (Belchertown, Mass.) finished with team-highs of 17 points, eight rebounds, and three steals but it was not enough to unseat Dean College, as the Bulldogs ran away with a 77-46 victory to spoil the first semester finale for the Lynx.

Fellow first year Linda Wallentine (Monroe Township, N.J.) added ten points for the guests while leading all players with five assists. Classmate Dakota Jones (Torrance, Calif.) finished with five points and five boards while sophomore Abby Henderson (Rochester, N.H.) added four points while corralling three rebounds.

The Bulldogs were led by Fataya Larry's double-double of 18 points – on 9-of-13 shooting – and 12 rebounds. India Pina filled the stat sheet with 16 points, seven boards, and six steals while Denisha Gardener also notched a double-double with 12 points and 13 caroms, with the bulk of her scoring coming from the free throw line. Chelsea Johnson was the fourth Bulldog to eclipse double-figures as she finished with 14 points.

The Dean offense ignited quickly as they scored the first six points of the game and shot 55-percent over the opening ten minutes of play. The Bulldogs never trailed in the game.

Dean did most of their damage down low as they outscored Lesley 40-10 in the paint and held a 52-31 advantage on the glass. The Bulldogs were aggressive on the offensive boards, pulling down 22 of them and finishing with 17 second chance points.

The Lynx will return to action after the holiday season and be back on their home floor on Thursday, January 5th when they host Green Mountain College in a non-conference affair.
