Daniel Webster Stays Hot, Knock off Lynx

Nashua, N.H. – Rookie Ashley Giampetruzzi (Manchester, N.H.) notched a game-high 24 points including 15 in the second half while Vanessa Bosques (Windham, Conn.) added a double-double of 15 points and 11 rebounds and the Daniel Webster women's basketball team won for the eight straight time with a 67-34 victory over Lesley in a NECC matchup Thursday at Mario Vagge Gymnasium.

DWC, now 12-2 over their past 14, improved to 12-10 overall (12-3 NECC) and remained tied with Elms for second place in the NECC standings with three conference games remaining.

Emily Fleming (Medford, Mass.) led the Lynx (3-18, 2-13 NECC) with 12 points and three steals off the bench, while Shannon Baker (Lynnbrook, N.Y.) added 11 points and five rebounds.

The Eagles trailed only once by three early on and limited Lesley to six points over the final 10 minutes of the first half to take a nine-point lead, 26-17, into the break.

The Eagles kept the defensive pressure on in the second, limiting Lesley to two points over the first 11 minutes of the frame and built the lead out to 35 with 9:28 remaining before Fleming ended the dry spell with a layup at the nine-minute mark. DWC would push the lead to as large as 38 in the second half.

The Eagles finished with a season best 56 total rebounds including 22 on the offensive glass, while Lesley pulled in 31 total. DWC added a 24-8 scoring advantage in the paint and finished shooting 41-percent from the field while Lesley shot 27-percent.

The Eagles return to action on Monday night when they visit Bay Path for a NECC matchup at 8:00 p.m. The game was moved from an original Saturday 1:00 p.m. start.

Lesley visits Newbury on Monday at 6:00 p.m. in a similar Saturday postponement.
