Three in Double-Figures as Regis Topple Lynx

WESTON, Mass. – Led by double-figure performances by the trio of Sabree Rodriguez (Brockton, Mass.), Emilee Marro (Bedford, N.H.), and Monet Lowe (Framingham, Mass.), the Regis College women's basketball team defeated the Lynx of Lesley University on Tuesday evening, 73-29. The Pride, who never led by less than 13 points during the game, improve to 17-4 overall and a perfect 14-0 in New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) play with the win, while Lesley falls to 3-17, 2-12 NECC with the loss.

The win also marks the twelfth in a row for Regis, which ties a program record previously set in the 1996-97 season.

Regis opened the game with a blistering 18-0 run and never looked back. Suffocating defense by the Pride prevented the Lynx from getting on the scoreboard until the 14:16 mark. Following a quick 5-0 run by the visitors, sparked by a three-pointer from Shannon Baker (Lynnbrook, N.Y.), the Pride once again turned on the jets. The Pride were an impressive 55.6% from the field on 20-for-36 shooting in the first half. Led by Marro and Lowe, who each scored nine of their eleven total points in the first stanza, Regis carried a 47-16 lead into halftime.

The Pride continued to hit shots and tack onto their lead coming out of the break. The Regis defense proved to be just as controlling as the offense, as the Pride were able to limit the Lynx to just 13 second half points. Additionally, Regis grabbed 40 defensive rebounds to Lesley's 19, and managed to come away with 16 team steals on the night.

Rodriguez finished with a game-high 12 points, and added two assists, three steals, and three rebounds. Marro just missed a double-double, finishing with 9 rebounds and also adding three steals and one assist. Lowe grabbed four rebounds and dished out two assists to go along with her 11 points.

The Regis bench was an instrumental part of the win, and for the second game in a row accounted for 41 of the team's total points. The freshmen duo of Taylor Bunkley (Carmel, N.Y.) and Michaela Maguire (Revere, Mass.) combined for 18 points and 15 rebounds. Bunkley also had a game-high five steals, while Maguire added one block.

Lesley had a balanced attack on the night, as Baker and Sarah Apgar (Andover, N.J.) finished with six points each. Kaleigh Gorman (East Setauket, N.Y.) and Ari Dimou (Manchester, N.H.) also combined for 11 rebounds and six points for the Lynx.

Both teams will be back in action on Thursday, February 7. Regis travels to Wheelock for an 8:00 p.m. start time, while Lesley will travel to Daniel Webster for a 7:00 p.m. tip-off.
