Lynx to Host Play4Kay

Lynx to Host Play4Kay

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. –On Saturday, February 16th the women's basketball team will close out their season by hosting "Play4Kay," an initiative named for the late North Carolina State women's head basketball coach, Kay Yow, to raise money to increase awareness and research on fighting women's cancers.

Tip-off is set for 6:30pm at Buckingham, Browne, & Nichols (Cambridge, Mass.) as the Lynx will host NECC foe Southern Vermont College. After the women's game, the men's basketball team will also host the Mountaineers at 8:30pm.

The women's basketball team has made it a goal to raise $1,000 to give towards the Kay Yow Cancer Fund. Please help them reach their goal by DONATING HERE.

Yow was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 1987, and passed away on January 24, 2009, after facing her third bout with the disease. With the creation of the Fund, Kay hoped to raise money to further cutting-edge research conducted by the nation's top doctors and medical experts to allow more and more cancer patients to have access to experimental drugs and clinical trials. Since the majority of these research projects are privately funded, these researchers desperately need our support in order for them to continue to make strides in finding a cure for cancer.

"We are very excited to host Play4Kay," said Lynx head coach Jason Talanian. "Kay Yow had a number of legendary battles on the court as a coach, but her battle against cancer was inspirational. We are honored to contribute to the fight against cancer through raising money and awareness."
