Big First Half Carries Daniel Webster Over Lynx

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Daniel Webster forward Vanessa Bosques (Windham, Conn.) scored 19 of her 23 points in the first half as the Eagles rolled to a 79-39 win over Lesley this evening in New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) action. The win was Daniel Webster's fourth consecutive as they improve to 8-10 on the year and 8-3 in NECC play while the Lynx fall to 2-15 and 1-9 in conference play.

Bosques was dominant in the opening frame, going 3-of-3 from three-point range, and helping the Eagles build a 30-point lead at halftime. Freshman guard Ashley England (Old Town, Me.) scored 13 in the first half, finishing with 17, while junior guard Ariel Guzman (Yonkers, NY) chipped in with seven. Freshman forward Natalie Nagle (Dolgeville, NY) came off the bench and went 4-of-5 from the field on her way to 11 points, all coming in the second half.

For the Lynx, junior guard Emily Fleming (Medford, Mass.) finished with a team-high 13 points while junior Sarah Apgar (Andover, NJ) finished with eight points to go with her four rebounds. Sophomore forward Anthea Rathjens (Sudbury, Mass.) had a team high seven boards and chipped in with four points on the night.

After building a 25-15 lead with 9:43 left in the first, the Eagles went on a 17-0 run over the next six minutes and outscored the Lynx 25-5 to end the half. Bosques led the charge scoring twelve during the stretch, including scoring seven consecutive points to cap it off.

The Eagles shot an impressive 51% from the field during the opening stanza, including knocking down all seven of their three-point attempts. They finished the game going 43% from the floor while also out-rebounding the Lynx by a 61-32 margin, 25 of which came off the offensive glass.

 Junior guard Jennifer Fredericks (Beacon Falls, Conn.) and freshman forward Ashley Giampetruzzi (Manchester, NH) had ten and eleven boards, respectively, for Daniel Webster.

The Lynx now hit the road for five straight starting on Thursday night as they travel to Wheelock for an 8:00p tip-off while the Eagles will host Becker College on Thursday at 7:00p.
