LEICESTER, Mass. – Junior guard Haley Ooms (Valatie, N.Y.) had her second career triple-double with ten points, ten rebounds and ten assists to lead host Becker College to a 66-46 victory over visiting Lesley University on Thursday night in NECC women's basketball action at the Leicester Gymnasium. The Hawks of Becker are now 3-8 and an even 2-2 in the conference standings while the Lynx of Lesley fall to 1-9 and 0-4 against NECC opponents.

It was the second triple-double of the season for Ooms, who had her first trifecta on December 8th at Wheelock. She also added four steals on the night. Becker junior forward Tatiana Mojica (Worcester, Mass.) led all scorers with 17 points along with six boards. In just her second game with the Hawks, sophomore transfer guard Brooke Martel (Griswold, Conn.) came off the bench to score 14 points on five-of-seven shooting. Junior forward Tarisha Renaud (Worcester, Mass.) had a game-high 12 rebounds. Becker out-rebounded Lesley 63-27.

Freshman guard Shannon Baker (Lynnbrook, N.Y.) led the Lynx with 10 points, while freshman guard Ari Dimou (Manchester, N.H.) had nine. Junior guard Emily Fleming (Medford, Mass.) contributed five steals.

Lesley put on a full-court press throughout the first half, leading to a frenetic pace that gave Becker a major edge in rebounding, 30-11, but also led to 17 Hawk turnovers. The hosts never trailed, with Mojica leading the way with 10 points in the opening period. Becker led by as much as 12 after a layup from sophomore guard Vanusa Varela (Boston, Mass.) with 1:33 left in the half, going into the break leading 32-20. Ooms had eight of her assists and an equal number of rebounds just in the opening period. Freshman guard Alina Donato (Newton, Mass.) led the Lynx with six points off the bench.

In the second half, the Hawks used defense to remain in control, holding the Lynx scoreless in the first 8:41 of the period, a 9-0 Becker run that was finally broken on a free throw by Lesley junior guard Sarah Apgar (Andover, N.J.) to cut the Hawk lead to 41-21. The visitors did not make a field goal until Apgar scored on a layup with 5:30 remaining in the game. Becker led by as much as 23. Ooms' running jumper with 3:46 left gave her ten points to complete the triple-double.

Lesley is back in action on Saturday when the Lynx host Newbury College at 4:30 p.m. at Buckingham, Browne, and Nichols.
