LESLEY RALLY FALLS SHORT IN LOSS TO PINE MANOR

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Five different women's basketball players scored in double-figures as the Pine Manor College women's basketball team rolled past the Lesley University Lynx 75-57 on Thursday evening at the Buckingham, Browne, & Nichols (BBN) gymnasium in Cambridge, Ma. The Gators of Pine Manor improve to 1-2 while the Lynx fall to 0-4.

Grace Amato (Sharon, Vt.) paced the Lynx with 16 points and six rebounds. Sarah Apgar (Andover, N.J.) added 13 points, 5 rebounds, four assists, and three steals, while Anthea Rathjens (Sudbury, Ma.) chipped in with 11 points and nine rebounds to round-out the highlights for Lesley.

Lesley held a slight 19-18 lead midway through the first half but their hot hand would go cold as Pine Manor outscored the Lynx 22-6 the remainder of the half to take a commanding 40-25 lead into the break.

Despite the deficit the Lynx clawed their way back. Buckets by Amato and Rathjens, along with a 3-pointer by Carrie Fieger (Simsbury, Conn.) pulled Lesley to within seven (46-49)--forcing a Pine Manor timeout. Out of the timeout, Jackie Ewing (Hong Kong) fought her way to the line, draining both free-throws, to cut the Gators lead to five 46-41 with 14:17 remaining.

The Lynx would trail by as little as seven (56-49) with less than ten minutes remaining but, a 13-4 run by the Gators over the next six minutes extended Pine Manor's lead to 16 points, a deficit the Lynx could not overcome.

Natasia Franklin led the Gators with a game high 27 points while teammate Meagan Badohu added a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Sybil Linch added 13 points, Alexis Lee finished with 12 points, and Ashley Reeves added 11 points to cap the scoring highlights for Pine Manor.

Lesley returns to action on Sunday when they welcome Fisher College for a 1 p.m. tip-off at BBN in Cambridge, Ma.
