Lynx fall in season-ender at Daniel Webster

NASHUA, NH -- Lesley women's basketball wrapped up 2012 with a 73-35 loss at Daniel Webster College Saturday afternoon in New England Collegiate Conference women's basketball play.

Emily Fleming led Lesley with 15 points and 10 rebounds, and Sarah Apgar added 10 points.

Jumpers from Apgar, freshman Carrie Fieger and a three-pointer from Fleming sent the Lynx out to a 7-4 lead with 13:50 to play in the first half, but the Eagles answered with a pair of layups on their next two possessions to gain a lead the team never relinquished.

Another Fieger jumper brought the Lynx back within a point, but the Eagles answered immediately. A 7-0 run featuring a pair of Sarah Paternostro layups and a 10-2 run sparked by six Kirsten Murphy points to close out the half distanced Daniel Webster for good.

For the Eagles, Paternostro totaled 18 points eight rebounds and six assists, and Murphy led all scorers with 24 points.

While the loss marks the end of the 2011-12 season for the Lynx, the defending champion Eagles move on to the NECC postseason.
