LEICESTER, MA -- Lesley fell short in its bid for a first win as Becker outscored the Lynx 33-23 in the second half in the Hawks 49-35 victory in NECC women's basketball play.
Emily Fleming led the Lynx with 18 points 10 rebounds and a game-high six steals, shooting 8-9 from the free throw line. In a low-scoring first half, Fleming scored the Lynx first seven points before a Carrie Fieger jumper tied the game at 12-12 in the final 90 seconds.
Becker, however, responded with jumpers from Michelle Greczika and Tatiana Mojica in the final 47 seconds to take a 16-12 halftime lead, but the Hawks were just getting going.
What was a mini 4-0 run in the final seconds before halftime blew up into a 22-0 run run in the first 5:26 of the second half. Mojica and Chelsea Joubert each scored eight of the team's 22 points, and the Hawks opened up a 34-12 lead by the 14:00 mark of the second half.
Becker led by 17 or more until the final 5:00 and improved to 5-14 and 5-7 in the NECC.
Lesley, now 0-18, pressured Becker into 25 turnovers, but gave up 28 percent shooting and shot only 18 precent as a team.
The Lynx return to play Friday night at home against Southern Vermont at 8:00.
