BROOKLINE, MA -- After improving its offense in each of the last three games, the Lynx were held to only eight first half points in the team's 63-26 loss at Newbury College on Thursday night in New England Collegiate Conference women's basketball play.

Sophomore Sarah Apgar led the Lynx with 10 points to go along with six rebounds. Filling in at point guard and playing all 40 minutes for her ninth time in 12 outings, Apgar swiped a game-high six steals as Lesley fell to 0-12 and 0-7 in the NECC.  

Center Grace Amato saw her streak of double-digit rebound games come to an end at four to start her Lynx career, tying forward Chelsea Contre for team-best honors with nine.

The Nighthawks opened the night scoring the first 11 points before an Apgar jumper put the Lynx on the board at the 15:00 mark. Newbury followed with a 10-1 run led by forward Katie Haney, who totaled seven points and 10 rebounds in the first alone as Newbury went into halftime with a commanding 35-8 lead.

Amato, sent to the bench with three fouls in five first half minutes, came on in the second, scoring all of her seven points and grabbing eight of her nine boards after halftime. Behind Haney, who finished her double-double with 11 points and a game-high 15 boards, the Nighthawks still cruised, 63-26.

Nephie Marsh and Shayla White each finished with a game-best 15 points for Newbury, which improves to 8-7 and 6-2 in NECC play.

Lesley returns from its three-game road trip on Saturday, playing host to Becker College at 5:00 p.m.
