Lynx bow to Blue Angels, 52-36

CHESTNUT HILL, MA -- A late first half run pulled the Blue Angels on top for good as the College of New Rochelle topped Lesley 52-36 Sunday afternoon in the consolation game of the Pine Manor Tip-Off Tournament.

Lesley's Emily Fleming was named to the all-tournament team, scoring a game- and career-high 20 points to go along with seven rebounds. Chelsea Contre led all player with 15 rebounds and Katherine Bradley added 11 as the Lynx won the battle of the boards 48-43 but shot only 17 percent for the game.

The Lynx led most of the first half until the final minutes. A Contre jumper capped a 6-0 run that gave Lesley a 10-6 lead, and a Carrie Fieger basket gave the Lynx their largest lead at 17-12 with 7:44 left in the first half.

A Fieger layup broke a 20-20 tie inside of 3:00, but the Blue Angels scored six of the half's last eight points to go into the locker room leading 26-22.

Fleming's putback on Lesley's opening possession of the second half brought her team to within 26-24, but New Rochelle answered with an 8-0 run to go up 34-24 and remained comfortably in command for the remainder of the game.

New Rochelle's Alyssa Pechin led all players with 15 points and eight assists, and forward Tra'Leassa King added eight points, six rebounds and a game-best six blocks in only 20 minutes as the Blue Angels improved to 2-2.

For Lesley (0-3), Fieger, Bradley and Sarah Apgar tied for game-high honors with three steals each. Fleming, meanwhile, shot a perfect 8-8 at the free throw stripe.

Lesley plays host to Eastern Nazarene in non-conference play Tuesday night at 8:00.
